Autumn Leaves

Today we went outside under the big acorn trees to look at the leaves that had fallen onto the ground. We looked at them and described what they looked and felt like. We had to tell our partner what we thought. We had fun throwing the leaves around up into the air.  We made a big pile then we had a photo.  Tomorrow we are going to write about leaves.....

Stepping Out - Keeping safe on the roads

This term we have been learning about keeping safe when crossing the road and being aware of sneaky driveways.  Constable Chris is showing us what to do on Campbell road outside our school.

Eating our cress

We have been growing cress at school.  Each day we water it and much sure it gets out in the sunshine.  On the last day of term 1 we cut it, spread cream cheese onto bread and ate it.  Some children hadn't eaten cress before but wanted to try it.  

Skipping

Today we made time to get outside in the fine weather and do some skipping we were learning to jump at the right time.  Can be a bit tricky when we are learning to skip.

Algebraic Patterning

We are learning about making repeating patterns.  We counted objects and used them to make patterns.  

Inquiry Learning - Planting Seeds

The children have learning to ask questions as part of our inquiry about being healthy.  Some key questions were "I wonder how asparagus grow?" "I wonder how mushrooms grow out from the ground?"  We decided to plant some pak choi with the children and watch them grow...

Drinking Milk

At school we drink milk each day.  The children look forward to drinking milk.  The milk is supplied by Fonterra.  We store the milk in a nice cold fridge.

Healthy Eating - Our Inquiry learning

In class we have been learning about healthy eating.  We had a focus question that we wanted to find out.  Why are fruit and vegetables good for us? We read information to help us find out the answer.  We then cut out pictures of fruit and vegetables and stuck onto a plate.  We worked with a partner.

Phonics

Today in phonics we were learning about the letter i.  We sang a rhyme and made igloos.  The children loved making these with ice cream cones and marshmallows.

Today in phonics we were learning about the letter v.  We went out to the sandpit and made volcanos. We had fun!!

Making a sandwich

This week at school we have been reading the big book It's My Bread.  Today we made our own sandwich.  We could choose between vegemite, jam and honey.  Yummy!
