Inquiry Learning - Planting Seeds

The children have learning to ask questions as part of our inquiry about being healthy.  Some key questions were "I wonder how asparagus grow?" "I wonder how mushrooms grow out from the ground?"  We decided to plant some pak choi with the children and watch them grow...

Drinking Milk

At school we drink milk each day.  The children look forward to drinking milk.  The milk is supplied by Fonterra.  We store the milk in a nice cold fridge.

Healthy Eating - Our Inquiry learning

In class we have been learning about healthy eating.  We had a focus question that we wanted to find out.  Why are fruit and vegetables good for us? We read information to help us find out the answer.  We then cut out pictures of fruit and vegetables and stuck onto a plate.  We worked with a partner.

Phonics

Today in phonics we were learning about the letter i.  We sang a rhyme and made igloos.  The children loved making these with ice cream cones and marshmallows.

Today in phonics we were learning about the letter v.  We went out to the sandpit and made volcanos. We had fun!!

Making a sandwich

This week at school we have been reading the big book It's My Bread.  Today we made our own sandwich.  We could choose between vegemite, jam and honey.  Yummy!

Making Milo

Today we were learning about the letter 'm'.  We made a drink of milo.

Piper's News Sharing

Piper shared a book that she had made about her holiday in Slipper Island.  We enjoyed Piper sharing her book with us.  She talked about all the things her and her family and friends do on their holiday.  They fish, play, explore the beach and have lots of fun.

Linkin's News Sharing

At home Linkin draw pictures of his family and cut out pictures from magazines to share with us.  His sister helped him.  The children asked him questions.  Well done Linkin. A great activity to do at home.

Calendar Art

We have been doing calendar art in our room.  The girls art is of a butterfly and the boys have completed rockets.

Making Cats

Abby's reading group read the book Making a Cat and a Mouse.  At home Abby made two cats and shared them with the class for news.  We enjoyed listening to how Abby made her cats.  She followed the instruction and looked at the pictures.

Jacob's Holiday to Australia

When Jacob was in Australia he kept a record of what he did with his family.  He shared this book with us when he got back.  We enjoyed Jacob's pictures and interesting stories of what he did.  Jacob showed us a map what he did in Dreamworld.  It sounded very exciting!
